How to Enter
- Open to anyone aged 25 or under, living in
Outback Australia (includes regional, remote and rural areas.) Entries can be from individuals,
groups, schools or organisations.
- There is no set theme. The festival aims to reflect the identity and experiences of
young people living within the Australian
“Outback.” However entrants
should use this as a guideline, rather than be restricted by it.
- Submit a clearly labeled mini DV tape or VHS
videocassette in a hard case with
a completed entry form and appropriate entry fee. If there is more than one entry per
tape, please ensure they are clearly labeled and separated.
- Submit
entry fee by cheque or money order and make payable to Outback Youth Film Festival 2002
Please write the title of the film on check or money order.
- No submissions will be accepted if postmarked
after the entry date of: August 12, 2002.
- Please read and follow the Entry Regulations
carefully.
Entry
Regulations
- All work must be original.
- Where the work has been produced by a group, at
least two of the following must be aged 25 or under (at the time of
production): producer, director,
writer, cinematographer, editor.
- For student categories, all work must have been
done by students only.
- Only films that have been completed after Dec
2000 will be accepted.
- Entries should fall within the following time
limitations:
i.
-student
category : 6 mins
ii.
-amateur
category : 6 mins
iii.
-professional
category : 9 mins
- Exceptions may be considered upon request by
individual applicants.
- The Film Festival is open to the general public
(of all ages). Films submitted
must fall within the restrictions of “General Viewing.” Work that does not meet these
requirements may not be screened.
The Outback Youth Film Festival reserves the right not to screen
work which is deemed inappropriate.
- The number and quality of entries will determine
whether films entered are screened.
All award winning entries will be screened.
- All styles and genres are welcome.
- Silent work will be accepted.
- Works in progress will not be accepted.
- Submission tapes will not be considered unless
accompanied by appropriate fee and completed entry form. If your tape contains more than one
entry, please ensure they are clearly labeled and separated.
- If possible entries which are not in English
should contain English subtitles.
- The OYFF may wish to use footage or stills from
any film entered, for promotional or documentation purposes. Entrants
will be notified prior to the usage of material, out of respect for
intellectual property rights.
If any of your work contains material that is culturally sensitive
and you do not wish it to be used for promotional or archival purposes,
please fill out the appropriate section of the entry form below.
- The festival director must authorize exceptions
to the festival regulations.
- Submission tapes will be available for
collection for two weeks after the festival. It is the entrants responsibility to pick up the tapes. For entrants unable to attend, tapes
will not be returned unless a self-addressed, stamped bag and letter
requesting the tape be returned is enclosed.
- No tapes will be accepted if sent C.O.D. Entrants
are responsible for their own insurance and shipment of films.

- The OYFF2002 shall not be liable for damage to
or loss of films. Entrants are
responsible for insurance of their tapes and films. Original copies should not be
submitted.

Soundtrack and Copyright:
Entrants
are encouraged to use original music for their soundtrack. However, music from other sources may be
used following these guidelines:
-for the festival only, any unoriginal music that you
have used must be registered for copyright.
-this does not cover any public screening for your
film elsewhere.
-you must contact the publisher directly.
-keep a record of any attempt you make to contact the
publisher or artist

Judging and Prizes:
Winners
will be selected by a youth panel, who will receive training from industry
professionals. The judge’s decision
will be final and OYFF2002 will not enter into any correspondence concerning
the judges’ decision.

will be awarded in categories outlined in this document, as well as special
award categories.
Winners
may be required to participate in publicity and promotion.
